MoneyActive Project
A number of Devon Citizens Advice Bureau has launched a new service offering training on money matters across South Hams, Teignbridge, West Devon, East Devon and Exeter. Local people will be able to attend sessions to increase their money know-how and training will also be offered to organisations who regularly deal with people with financial difficulties.
The current economic difficulties mean it is more important than ever that people have the skills to budget, borrow and save with confidence as money matters can be complicated. The friendly, informal sessions that the bureau will run are designed to help everyone, no matter what their level of knowledge. It’s not easy talking about money, but our trained volunteers are able to cut through the jargon and pass on valuable tips which can really make a difference.”
Financial education work means the bureau can carry out proactive work, helping to prevent consumers from getting into financial difficulties in the first place.
Do I need to get MoneyActive?
MoneyActive is for anyone who wants to understand their financial lives and make better decisions about their futures. It’s not just for people who find themselves in difficulties, either. In fact, MoneyActive sessions are designed to help people avoid financial difficulties.
For people who find themselves in debt, MoneyActive sessions will be invaluable in helping you to understand where you are and how you begin to take control of your money.
What happens in a MoneyActive session?
MoneyActive sessions are designed to be interesting and interactive and are tailored to the needs of the individual or the group. One-to-one sessions are designed to help individuals understand their current financial circumstances and develop their own knowledge skills and confidence to make the right decisions.
Group sessions are tailored to the needs of the group and usually focus on the broader issues of financial management. For example, a session with a group of expectant mothers might cover topics such as coping on a lower income with increased outgoings and how to claim appropriate benefits.
If you know of a group or organisation, or maybe an individual who would benefit from a session, please complete the form below.
